What is WildFire Retreat?
WildFire Retreat is a flow and fire arts retreat situated on a picturesque campground in Ashford, CT that offers a diverse selection of classes on poi, hoop, staves, dance, teaching, fire safety, performance, and so much more!
With a participation-based, skill-share philosophy, this event is as much for aspiring beginners looking to try something totally new as it is for established spinners who want to level up and build their network.
The retreat officially runs from Friday at 3:00 PM to Monday at 12:00 PM, with classes all day Saturday and Sunday and a showcase on Saturday Night. All meals from Friday dinner to Monday breakfast are included with the cost of your ticket!
All attendees volunteer at least 5 hours over the course of the weekend (sign up after you buy tickets). Your volunteer time is a great way to meet people, and allows us to keep ticket prices low!

Why do I need to volunteer?
WildFire’s success and sustainability depends directly on your participation through volunteering. We ask that you sign up for at least 5 hours of shifts when you purchase your ticket.
- Our volunteer shifts are super fun, and great way to meet some awesome folks.
- They allow us to keep ticket prices as low as possible.
- Only ticket holders can sign up for shifts — you will be given the link once you’ve registered.
There are many opportunities for volunteering outside of that form, too, like teaching workshops, participating in the Showcase, Organizing, and more! For more information, please contact info@wildfireretreat.org
We love our volunteers!
How do I get more involved?
Love to collaborate AND create shenanigans? Want to gain experience in event planning and lead teams of volunteers while building resume-worthy skills? Are you a Kitchen wizard, spreadsheet master, or into extreme cat wrangling? You sound like you’d be an awesome candidate for the Organizer squad!
Organizers each manage one aspect of the chaos that goes into putting on a WildFire Retreat. Folks in these roles lead volunteers constructing the dome, greeting arriving attendees, leading meal cooking and cleanup, putting on the Showcase, and so much more – there is an Organizer position that’s right for you, let’s help you find it!

WildFire is supported by the Spinning Arts Foundation (SAF), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created in 2013 to spread the spinning arts and build community among spinning artists.
SAF not only supports WildFire Retreat, but also functions as a resource for those wishing to start their own events, programs, or organizations.
