What is a Board Member?
A Board Member’s chief role is to provide resources and guide our program directors towards our mission - not to directly run a program. Being a board member is a non-paid position currently, even for the elected positions.
Board members are expected to virtually attend monthly board meetings. These usually take 1-2 hours each. There are also special projects that board members are involved in, like updating the website, defining programs, and drafting proposals. There are also three positions (chairperson, cleric, and treasurer) that require additional work. The board member position is elected for a two year term.
The Election Process
I. The SAF Board will notify all members of the Board Member positions that will be open in the coming year.
2. Any member is able to submit a board member application.
3. The existing Board will vet the application list and present a finalized candidates list to all members.
4. The General Membership will vote on the candidates in an electronic format. The open director seats will be filled by the person receiving the most “yes” votes. This will continue until all open director seats are filled.
5. The Board positions (Chair, Cleric, etc) are then elected among the Board members.
Board Member Application
The 2020 board applications are currently closed. The next election will be December 2021. There will be a call for candidates in the fall. If you wish to be involved with Spinning Arts Foundation in other ways, please contact SAF@wildfireretreat.com.
